Meet the IYS Committee Members

  • Bev Appleby

Bev is IYS’s representative to our national organisation IY(UK)’s Executive Committee and keeps us in touch with decisions and news from IY(UK), as well as feeding back the views of IYS to IY(UK). She teaches beginners and improvers alike in Worthing, Angmering and Shoreham-by-sea. Her down to earth, light hearted manner and enthusiasm for Iyengar Yoga shines through her teaching .

  • Helen Ayling

Helen is a level 3 teacher and has been teaching for 15 years. She recently opened the Helen Ayling Yoga studio in West Worthing, West Sussex and produces the IYS newsletter.

  • Sara Calder-Jones

Sara has studied Iyengar yoga for 25 years and taught for 8 years.  She likes the structure Iyengar yoga offers to learn and progress and still remembers clearly what it was like to be a complete beginner. Sara teaches 5 yoga classes a week in East Preston.

  • Sarah Delfas

Sarah runs and teaches at the Hanuman Yoga Studio in Sharpthorne, Mid Sussex. A level 3 teacher who has been teaching since 2002, she is also co founder of Yogapushpanjali, the Iyengar yoga family camp based in Sussex. She teaches all ages, from children to senior citizens and believes that yoga is for all.

  • Randall Evans

  • Louise Humphrey

Louise’s first ever yoga class was an Iyengar yoga class in Worthing in 1997. Her regular practice of Iyengar yoga truly started in 2015. In 2023 she began training to teach, mentored by Cathy Rogers-Evans and Randall Evans. A solo mother working as a specialist nurse in palliative care, Iyengar yoga has helped Louise to stay strong, stable, balanced and flexible. “Yoga is for the householder and those living in the world "BKS Iyengar"

  • Brian Ingram

Brian has been practising Iyengar Yoga since 1984 and teaching since 1995. He holds the Level 3 Teaching Certificate. His involvement with IYS dates back many years and he has held the titles of Chair, Events Secretary, Newsletter Assistant and now Treasurer.

  • Jenny Kemp

Jenny has been teaching Iyengar yoga for 13 years, and practising for around 25 years. She lives in Horsham and has been building up her classes since moving there in 2017. She attends Cathy Rogers class weekly and is training for the Level 2 certificate.

  • Julian Lindars

  • Vicky Nardell

Vicky moved to Shoreham 3 years ago and started yoga with Cathy and Randall immediately. She has always practised yoga but Iyengar yoga was new for her and she is a huge advocate of the props, ropes, restorative essence and amazing teachers and workshops we have around Sussex. IYS has introduced her to an amazing community who add sparkle to her life, cheer her up and open her mind.

  • Cathy Rogers-Evans

Cathy  has been teaching Iyengar yoga for 37 years and is a level 3 teacher, mentor and assessor. A founder member of the Iyengar Yoga Sussex member group in 1993, Cathy runs and teaches at YogaSouth in Lancing. She is currently the IYS Events Officer and organises regular IYS workshops with visiting and local teachers.

  • Biba Tiana

Biba discovered Iyengar yoga two years ago after 30 years of regular yoga. Her practice enables her to inhabit body and mind with a better sense of inner and outer space and this helps when her job involves a lot of sitting around at the computer! She find being a member of the IYS committee is grounding and enjoys building a like-minded community, life-changing and inclusive for all.
